Originally born in Vermont, Morgan Gerdel gained an early appreciation for the natural environment's beauty, hiking and running the mountains from an early age.  After visiting Maui on a family vacation, his family made the big step of moving to the island full time. He attended Seabury Hall from 1990-1996, and was one of the first Seabury graduates accepted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He graduated in January 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Art and Design from the MIT School of Architecture and Planning. Upon returning to Maui, Morgan began working for Nishikawa Architects, Inc. as a Project Manager.  He helped to establish a new design-build division, Architectural Design & Construction, Inc., that has completed over $60 million in construction since its founding.

In 2017, Morgan founded gerdel.studio to bring a more unique, personalized experience for his clients. As an architect-owner, Morgan provides conceptual building designs, construction documents, planning and project management services. With a specialty in residential design, he has also designed light commercial, tenant improvement and land development projects. He is a LEED Accredited Professional in both Homes and Building Design and Construction, a designation that requires a strong depth of knowledge in sustainable design.

Morgan’s personal interests include marathon running, with a goal to complete all of the Marathon Majors. He and his wife are currently working from home from the rainforest of Volcano, on Hawai'i Island.
